What is Iran Visa Process?

At Behinburg Tours, as an authorized travel agency by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “MFA”; once we receive your required documents to apply for your Iran Tourist Visa, submit your documents to them. It takes 4 – 7 working days, mostly even shorter to have your VISA GRANT NOTICE (visa confirmation) – a written confirmation in pdf format, including your personal information – with which you will refer to the selected embassy in the visa application form to stamp Iran Visa into your passport or receive your Iran Visa in a hard copy format.
Once you refer to the embassy you need to have your passport, visa grant notice, two pieces of your recent portrait photo, and the amount of visa collection fee to pay there and collect your Iran Visa.

Iran Visa Extension
To extend your visa in Iran you need to refer to “Immigration and Passport Office” in person 2 or 3 days before getting your current visa expires, have a passport, a portrait photo (2 pieces – for women they need to have a covered hair photo), cash in Iranian currency to pay for the extension, visa extension form and some copy of your documents which are all available there.

This is a right for every traveler to ask for an Iran visa extension from the “Immigration and Passport office” in the major cities in Iran. Yes, for the Iran visa extension you don’t need to refer to MFA, as it is done only in the immigration and passport police office in major cities like Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Yazd, Mashhad, and other cities.
A Visa extension is pretty easy to do if you have good reasons for it. Your reasons to ask for an extension of visa could be of your personal interest to stay longer in Iran, or any flight change schedule which may affect your duration of stay or …
It is the officer in general who makes the decision to accept or reject your extension request, with good reasons you will be always lucky to make it.
Based on the rules every traveler can ask for a visa extension twice and each time up to one month but it is the officer who will be convinced by your reasons to make it happen.
As mentioned; Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Yazd, and Mashhad are the cities to extend the visa, but from our tourist feedback you will be always lucky doing it in SHIRAZ as you may find Tehran offices very busy and Yazd and Isfahan time taking.

Your relevent questions about Iran Tourist Visa

Due to Iranian Government rules (Ministry of Tourism & Ministry of Foreign Affairs); US, UK and Canadian passport holders can only apply for an Iranian visa through one authorized Iranian travel agency e.g. Behinburg Tour & Travel Company, for which they need to buy a trip accompanied with an authorized licensed tourist guide from Iran’s Ministry of Tourism. The trip must be organized in advance and the travel agency needs to submit all the information about hotels, guides & drivers in advance. In addition to regular documents for an Iran Tourist Visa, a CV is also required for these nationalities. The CV should cover your study, occupation, and field of activity background. As Travel Agencies need to do more paperwork to obtain the visa it is highly recommended to apply for your Iran Tourist Visa at least two months before your designated time of travel.

You can make the application 3 or 4 months before travel but more important than the time of application, is to refer to the embassy for the collection of the visa once you have the grant notice. If the applicant does not refer to the embassy or general consulate once having the Grant Notice within a month, the visa will be rejected systematically.

It totally depends on the embassy the applicant is referring to, some Iranian Embassies may issue the visa in one day, and in some other countries takes up to a week.

The quick answer is NO. Unless you are a US, UK, or Canadian citizen that is due to Iranian Government rules citizens of these three countries CAN only travel to Iran by hosting an authorized Iranian Travel Agency e.g. Behinburg Tours.
It does not make it different to travel individually or take part in a group tour format.
So it is highly recommended to these nationals organize their trip at least 3 months in advance.

For independent visa applications, the whole process will normally take a minimum of two weeks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) & Tourism Ministry are the only decision-making authority as to whether or not to issue your visa, if they have any concerns about your visa application, the application process could take longer. Therefore, It is advisable to apply at least eight weeks before you intend to travel.

Each Nationality pays a different amount for Visa collection, commonly known as the visa collection fee. Generally speaking, Stamping a visa into your passport or getting it as the paper is cheaper in the Iranian embassy or general consulates of I.R. Iran outside the country than upon arrival at the airport. As an example, a Spanish Traveler will pay 50 EURO if he collects his/her visa at the Iranian Embassy in Madrid and will pay 75 Euro to collect at either of Iran’s international airports.
On top of the visa collection fee is a visa application fee which is totally in the hands of a travel agency and they may charge you a different price. At Behinburg Tours, we never charge you for the visa application and it always includes in your travel package.
